     Everything about this act sounds like a serious cause for concern, but the usual actors who get up in arms about this really...aren't. What's going on here?

     @sjw As a layman, I don't understand what the problem is. It sounds like the scope is limited to foreign adversaries and transactions with foreign adversaries.
     
     I have concerns about Section 2, Paragraph 4, Subparagraph A being overly broad, but I am not a lawyer.

     Even if the scope is supposed to limited, it is practically guaranteed that in practice it won't be. Consider the overreach that occured with the patriot act to see what to expect, except possibly worse.

     This is classic tiktok clickbait and imo a fine example of why I'm personally all for banning the app.

     He outright says "your home network", puts heavy emphasis on "wireless local area networks" (which clearly refers to WISPs and similar... Otherwise, I guess ethernets safe huehuehue), and then gestures to his home router and says "So all of this"

     The Secretary needs to "evaluate" whether or not the things listed will be a part of whatever's going on in sections 3 and 4... Before all others. It's a list of things to prioritize. A list of things to look at first and foremost. Also notice how it's not "These things" it's "Equipment that's sold for use in these things"

     So what's going on in sections 3 and 4 anyway? [Pic 2]

     In simple terms, the authority to block telecom providers from purchasing equipment that could be sabotaged or surveiled by a foreign power. Specific foreign powers are listed. I included the definition of "transaction" before section 3, as that makes this a bit more obvious. Section 3 applies to "covered transactions"

     Section 4 [Pic 4] directs the Secretary to produce for the president a report of holdings that might be unacceptably in the control of a foreign power. But... What's a holding? Maybe that's where the wifi is?

     Nope. [Pic 4] A holding is stocks and shares and equities derivatives and all sorts of rich people stuff. So... Not your home router.

     That's an awful lot of info, and unfortunately it's also a very very short analysis of a very short part of the document, to debunk one FUD-sowing video.

     Maybe if I did a little dance, it'd be easier to digest for the zoomers?

     Wireless Local Area Network or WLAN is also commonly known as Wi-Fi but other things like Bluetooth fall under that category as well.
     
     A Wireless Internet Service Provider or WISP network would be known as a Wireless Wide Area Network or WWAN.
     
     Wireless Local Area Network is your home Wi-Fi.

     @r000t @sjw @coolboymew That can mean literally anything. Why can't they just do bills like commits, small and simple, 1 for each issue. Of course they won't do that because they won't get to pass their shit bills without tacking them in.
     
     And then we get bills that are 1000 pages long and politicians get probably less than a day to read it all before needing to vote. We give them too much power and this is what happens.
