Real talk: I enjoyed this guy's content when he was starting out, but he's gradually become more and more of an insufferable redditor archetype. I'm not sure if he was always like that or if it's just the result of him flanderizing his own bit over the years.
@WashedOutGundamPilot@YTFoidLover1488 owning a nissan altima is like the movie christine except you got the crackhead cousin and the spirit of Carlos Ghosn taking over your body
He's gotten a boost lately and IDK what's up, I half assumed he expanded the operation because he's on my TL a lot more now and it's higher quality than before. Maybe he got a silent partner, there was a rash of buyouts recently. All those car channels got snapped up & ruined
@PurpCat@djsumdog@YTFoidLover1488@Hoss I'm inherently hostile to every e-celeb thing, maybe it's the whole thing that this guy's schtick was never quite understood, and the fanbase ran with it so long
every car is bad and unenjoyable, they're all shitty, except for these obviously busted, mediocre reddit-approved nerd cars. Don't you dare like power for power's sake, don't like fun, you have to get horny for dumb bullshit like timing chains and a 14-second 0-60 because that's what REAL enthusiasts like.
It's okay in its own area, but the attitude catches on, makes retards in the car scene even more irritating to deal with
In every case it's a guy making a product that, were it judged solely on its 2024 content, sucks ass. But because they watched it at 15, they don't notice that it's nowhere near as enjoyable as it used to be, the creators are phoning it in because they're stuck in e-celeb hell until the grift well dries up for good
In every case I check out these "legends" only to see they're way, way more troon-friendly and nigger-worshipping than they were promised.
@PurpCat@djsumdog@YTFoidLover1488@Hoss "you want a corvette? haha that fuckin SUCKS, man you need to get a REAL cool car. That's normie shit, you don't want to be a corvette guy, that's boomer, ugh"
then he gets into his fugly toyota matrix 5-speed and putts away
@Hoss@PurpCat@djsumdog@YTFoidLover1488 I've talked about it before, but I've talked with people in this LOW before. It's bleak. You don't notice that you make yourself unemployable when you have "youtuber" clogging up your resume year after year. At a certain point, that's all you got to lean on, and you never saw it coming.
Who's going to waste time hiring the RLM guys to edit together a shampoo commercial? What auto mag wants this guy bringing drama baggage into their blog?
Money ruins everything. The kind of content produced when you're doing it for fun is different from that which is produced once you're doing it for a paycheck.
>every car is bad and unenjoyable, they're all shitty, except for these obviously busted, mediocre reddit-approved nerd cars. Don't you dare like power for power's sake, don't like fun, you have to get horny for dumb bullshit like timing chains and a 14-second 0-60 because that's what REAL enthusiasts like. Well it started out as roast-style humor for car guys that wasn't supposed to be taken seriously, but then the audience started taking it serious.
Makes me wonder what Tom Scott is actually doing now. He seems like he was wise and saved his money. But you look at LGR and his retro-hording taking a huge hit of hurricane damage .. all he does is the YouBoobs ... his income will take a pretty big hit.
I was just listening to a James Corbett interview where he talked about how he didn't think at all about money or membership or sponsorship the first two years he ran his website. He never pay-walled any content (except maybe the members newsletter, which mostly just had a list of stuff coming out soon).
He got hit pretty hard in the pocketbook when we was banned from YouTube and Patreon (and maybe Paypal too?), but he had backups of everyone on his website and it hasn't stopped him. He's going stronger than ever, and he he honestly doesn't seem to care about the money.
@djsumdog@PurpCat@WashedOutGundamPilot@YTFoidLover1488@Hoss He paywalls his comment section (as in requiring a payed membership to comment), which I think is the only real incentive to actually give him money, but given his political views, it wouldn't surprise me if he anonymously trades on the darkweb, on the side.
