Phantasm (phnt@fluffytail.org)'s status on Tuesday, 12-Nov-2024 05:40:24 JST Phantasm @arcana @matrix @lain @sun @thatbrickster That was almost 300 years ago and the times have changed. Now it's used maliciously as a quick way to get citizenships somewhere else. Especially with the usually unwanted immigrants that after marriage have full access to the European welfare state. - matrix07012 :thotpatrol: :cunnyEmpire: likes this.

Bricky (thatbrickster@shitposter.world)'s status on Tuesday, 12-Nov-2024 05:40:23 JST Bricky @phnt I believe citizenships via marriage are valid but dual citizenships not so. When you marry, you should relinquish any previous citizenship.
I get your point about abuse, especially since we tolerate arranged marriages under the guise of religious freedom.

An argument could be made that the citizenship they're marrying into overrules any previous, so they don't lose it in case a divorce would make them stateless.
