   I wanted to be a professional baseball player. I remember well the day my Dad sat me down and told me that while I was really good at baseball I wasn’t good enough and I needed to have a backup plan. I applied to college the next day at his urging.
   
   Sometimes it’s the job of parents to tell their kids hard truths….

     I hate the "conservative intellectual" tendency to say things like that. Nobody actually supports this shit, aside from the leftmost third of the population.
