Everyone shuddered when they read it but it seems like it only affects atheistic, frameless redditors

Long slog, small payoff. And I like stories about eldritch houses. -

Same reason I hate breaking bad: I don't like indulging in voyeuristic media that celebrates the worst aspects of trash life

Hence my characterization as a 'redditor's terror: There's something about their arrogantly atheistic outlook that find it extremely spooky to read this "authentic" log of unexplained events that show man ultimately knows nothing of the cosmos
Every well adjusted person thinks it's nothing, but the redditor? He's emotionallly affected by it to a strange degree

Personally I think it was all just a bunch of "bait and switch"- there's enough there to make you *think* it could be a horror story there, but it isn't. There's enough there for you to *think* it's about academia, but it isn't, etc. It's not really "about" anything, I think the author just had some ideas, not really a full story, but just wanted to put the concepts out there Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks likes this. -

The bread is well toasted, the tomato is ripe, the cheese perfectly melted, and people's mind just fills in the taste of a patty that's not there

I hate reading "people" stories where the person is a wretch. Listening to the crazy guy's spiral digusts me, because I've dealt with enough of that nonsense IRL. I want to read about people who are like me or better, it's more edifying and enjoyable.
Reading about freaks, losers, druggies, kooks, just makes me feel like the voyeruistic women who watch lolcows - you're just playing social worker and cringing at the bottom-rungers of society.

Christmas Coon (mebigbrain@poa.st)'s status on Thursday, 12-Sep-2024 05:39:32 JST Christmas Coon @WashedOutGundamPilot @DEERBLOOD @doctorsex @TrevorGoodchild @nierenstein Idk man, I feel like reading a wiki wouldn't work for this, it seems like you're looking at the density of information in the book and getting lost in that. It's more about the vibe than anything. I'm with you about stories about shitty people being off-putting, but it clicks with me because Johnny Truant is a liar and a retard and probably none of those gratuitous sex scenes that I skimmed over actually happened because why would any woman want that weirdo faggot in the first place... and the narrative acknowledges all of that, so it's cool. Idk maybe the book is best when you can intuit what parts you're supposed to focus on and which parts you're supposed to not focus on, like if you really think there's a ton of useful information in those footnotes then the book has already driven you insane. I'm a things guy, not a people guy. It's just a misfire for me.
I get why it works for the people who like that stuff though, that's always how its fans explain it to me. The fact the sequels all revolve around whether or not his mom was insane at the lighthouse are even more boring.
Like breaking bad, where it's awesome to people who've never even met someone on meth, people who've never had to deal with the kind of scum the show portrays, it just reminds me of things I hate about real life, and that's not an enjoyable scene for me
