Phantasm (phnt@fluffytail.org)'s status on Thursday, 05-Sep-2024 00:55:26 JST Phantasm @sun EU has been playing it like that for years. Pass something generally regarded as good and use that as leverage to pass something bad like chat control. People will then ignore the latter with arguments like "But they passed something good like X. They aren't that bad."
The sad part about all of this, is that it works and the "save our children" excuse also works.
It also doesn't help that EU politicians are usually dumb ones, that failed in their own country. It's a dumping ground for bad politicians that nobody wants at home.- xianc78 and † top dog :pedomustdie: like this.

Angry Sun (sun@shitposter.world)'s status on Thursday, 05-Sep-2024 00:55:27 JST Angry Sun Interesting how Europe has right to privacy but chat control is gonna pass but the USA has no real right to privacy but you can't legally coerce someone to give up their E2EE keys. † top dog :pedomustdie: and xianc78 repeated this. -

I actually am a bit pessimistic that black-letter constitutionalism will hold, for the duration of my lifetime.
"The First Amendment says" isn't going to protect you. Eventually it's going to matter whether or not we're bold enough that we won't shut up, even when they tell you to. -

i'm not sure if statists can be saved :blobcatgrimacing: some of these people need a good whopping of Stirner to remember that things happen because people make it happen not because somebody wrote on a paper.† top dog :pedomustdie: likes this. -
Angry Sun (sun@shitposter.world)'s status on Thursday, 05-Sep-2024 01:27:16 JST Angry Sun @lanodan int he usa right to not self-incriminate has included not having to personally give up keys but yes if someone else holds the key for you, they don't even need a warrant, they can just issue a court order. -

Specially when even with E2EE you still typically leak out a ton of metadata and USA's Patriot Act means they can seize everything (even if it's stored overseas due to CLOUD Act).
That said I really wish things like right to remain silent would extend to encryption-keys/passwords/… because it's kind of bullshit otherwise. -

I think that the bluestate soycialist propagandists and bureaucrats are primarily scamming the $27 donations out of demographics that deserve to be scammed. Natural slaves and all that.
State authority naturally emerges from the martial classes. Who formed this government? Who formed the first government? -

there should be a little more martiality in society it seems, within reason. -

I really think that this antiracism shit we're hearing about is nothing less than an attempt to legally vaporize the entire Bill of Rights.
Freedom of speech? Slave owners wrote that. Right to bear arms? Slave owners wrote that. No quartering of soldiers? Slave owners wrote that.
You thought that you had a right to life, and liberty, and pursuit of happiness, because slave owners told you so. Now face the wall. -

it's kind of like bankers stealing all your shit and then banning taking people's shit. you still live in squalor and they still live in towers, so the whole thing is performative.
that being said i think people would be better served by general poverty uplift programs.
