   In the "Honest Hearts" expansion of "Fallout: New Vegas", Joshua Graham is quoted as saying, "I survived because the fire inside burned brighter than the fire around me."
   
   Looking at the weather forecast for my upcoming trip to Las Vegas, I'm going to have to especially keep that in mind.

     @MelGibsonafter4Beers @Heil_Honkler @skinwalkerq400 When I was in a brutal jam in my adventures, the only fuckers to pick up the phone are the mormons, I'll always, always be thankful for them bailing me out of being locked up in a subterranean dungeon hole. When it comes down to it all the groups, NGO's, organizations, charities, embassies couldn't be bothered to simply pick up the phone and help a stranger out.

     It's a pity they're so gay back here though. The men are effete and weak, and the women are either absolute dumpsters or chastely prot hotties. I used to chase their women for a bit during the wife hunt, I like the idea of a girl with a limited sexual resume and zero addictions (aside from food, I guess, but that's the fat ones). But no surprise: The desirable ones in their community all get snatched up early, so you're stuck shopping the 28 yo peg hangers.

     Oh, and their cathedral. It's about the only house of worship in the US that stands toe to toe with the old world, all hand carved granite. Until some other sect makes one to rival it, they're carrying the team.

     Catholics didn't pick up the phone. Embassy did pick up the phone. My employer didn't pick up the phone. Red Cross didn't pick up the phone. The mormons did.

     And that action is worth more to me than belief. Everyone talks a big game, few deliver.

     @givenup @MelGibsonafter4Beers @Heil_Honkler @skinwalkerq400 My point is that the ones to actually act christian and make good on their doctrine were the weirdos. Everyone else was worthless. I worked with a good variety of church groups when they were down there, everyone's in it for themselves, the photo op, the bragging rights, the vacation. The mormons and the jehovah's witnesses were the only ones with a fairly consistent degree of practicing what they preach. And I'm judging them from their 3rd world charity arms that supposedly LIVE for kind of thing. Everyone was there for party or business.

     If you care about your soul then you need to live your doctrine, not just hoard it in your ivory tower and watch the suffering of others from afar.

     But again that's a big doctrinal schism between everyone, isn't it? Believing the correct thing as the only element requried for salvation versus acting in full accordance with it? They've been fighting that out for a couple thousand years now

By any common credal standard: Baptists, Catholics, Lutherans and Orthodox profess faith in the same Christian God, mormons do not.
