     We used to know a kid whose mom was a brady campaigner, she tried to ban gunplay with the boys and forever excluded him from our circles until he was old enough to rebel. Then he got into airsoft, joined a match, and she got divorced after getting HUGE implants that were very polarizing to our 14 yo clique

     @coolboymew @dogslurp Yeah, it was infuriating since I was the only one to see it. All the dads saw it, but the kids would act like bigger is always better. We were at a neighborhood one once and I brought up the argument to two of the older guys w/ my dad and it was like the entire street's relief valve popped

     "oh my gosh how does she not see it they look awful"

     It was a fun lesson, because the adults got high and mighty about how they "always could tell when they're fake".....but there were 2 other implanters there, too, neither clocked by any of the guys. Mom told me that in confidence though - she didn't want me to be blind to roastie trickery like dad is.

     Guess they could afford better work.

     @givenup @boburtle @coolboymew Spring air guns are about $120 or so, they won't really reliably put them down but it might be worth a try. If nothing else it may be worth etending the feelers, most older fellows would have a .22 to toss you easy enough, if you got kindly old folks there

     They are the same people who would bitch at you for having fun back in the day, or who thought that a squirt gun emoji was radical social change. They've been hitting more walls of opposition, but the problem is few people outside the mainstream sphere are developing multiplayer shooters, and especially ones that don't die off after a month.
