@rher @Griffith @RustyCrab @Hoss @Nudhul The point right now is having a functional site. The con is, having what Bluesky was trying to curate or Mastodon now where the community is a monoculture.
Normies don't like hearing political shit all the time they want to see some niche YouTuber filming himself doing his hobby.

I think the ActivityPub ecosystem would be a lot more interesting today if Emperor Gargron's soy regime didn't exist.
-
@Hoss @Griffith @RustyCrab @rher @Nudhul That's also why Bluesky has failed.
I mentioned this on my other account, but the truth about Bluesky is, if artists/similar want retweets they go to Twitter. The tech nerd demographic likes something they can self host that is truly decentralized.
I don't know if you've noticed, but there is no enthusiasm for self hosting bluesky period. There isn't the little culture of weird nerds ranging the gamut from Alex "Fedi for normies" Gleason to schizo troons wanting to self host.
Nobody is wanting to host this shit, they've chosen ActivityPub.

@Hoss @Griffith @RustyCrab @rher @Nudhul I don't trust Jack especially with his behavior on Twitter and how he handled stuff and washed away the actions of the staff there in that interview, but I also think it's fitting that he finally sees the kind of culture he bred.
Bluesky is the late stage of pre-Elon Twitter. It's a culture of fear and paranoia, always scared that you followed the wrong guy and will end up on lists.

Jack's a Silicon Valley douche with an ego the size of Jupiter, which is why he snubbed the Fediverse in favor of a play that would make him the first mover on a new protocol that he could call decentralized while retaining an outsized influence over the network that would come from operating the flagship instance. It was funny to watch him fall flat on his face.

Jack deleting his BlueSky account and resigning from the board after seeing what it turned into was kino.

@Hoss @Griffith @RustyCrab @rher @Nudhul I think what's happened is there's two networks on one protocol.
There's Eugen's federation of allies, and then there's everyone else who might or might not federate with it. I'll also quote what a friend of mine said, "you should be submitting more AP/XMPP specification requests like the cancerous people are".
