   “The Longhouse” is such a stupid, retarded thing to keep calling ‘safetyism’ or “feeling-centered government” it almost makes me think it’s disingenuously designed to obfuscate the idea behind a veil of pseudo-RW in-jokes

   If you want an idea to stick, why make THIS your term when it’s so stupidly indecipherable and opaque? I’ve been hearing the word for like, 3 years now and only when this guy writes a 6-paragraph article do I finally see the explanation and meaning. Without that codex, it’s utter nonsense, meaningless noise to those outside the substack-sphere.

     Now, I’m not super jacked-in to this (kinda gay tbh) twitterite thought-circle spawning this kind of terminology, but it’s VERY telling that in all these months I haven’t seen anyone succinctly explain it. The times I’d ask I’m referred to 3-hour BAP podcasts, or “y’know, it’s like, how women run things”.

     You need something inventive when you want to make a thought catch fire in the dessicated grasslands of our culture. “The Longhouse™” just isn’t good. Other things that blow it away? “No Eggs“, or “Spincel“, things that describe a distinctly modern phenomenon that are catchy and evident on their face to immediately explain an idea with easily parsed shorthand.

     @PunishedD It’s almost exclusively used by “right wing” twitter nerds with substacks and podcasts. That’s what I really dislike. It’s had at least 1, if not 4 years to latch on in pop culture and it hasn’t - because it sucks.

I keep my work phone nice and sanitized, I keep my camera roll nice and benign so the only stuff I have pics of are dogs and cute critters she raises…..I dread them seeing it. I’d literally tell them she’s just imaginary before I go showing work-roasts our happy domestic life. Given the instances where I’m locked in a shoebox with a woman for a couple days at a time, I’m playing it super super safe. I’ve felt spinster rage before.

     Hell, I have women in the family that took a solid year plus before they cottoned to the whole thing. In the beginning I had an aunt ask “oh, are you gonna bring your little concubine, or does she have school?“ It wasn’t until we started branching out and helping out w/ the family more that she earned any respect here. I might be moving somewhere real shitty soon, and the original plan was to let her move in, then go work abroad to leave her here watching my place & helping out for room & board. Then 2020 happened and every job got a little funky.

     I didn’t really think it would get this serious, I guess. I kinda saw it as a ‘hey what the hell’ diversion from the get-go. In the start I only thought of it like a ‘training relationship’ for her, and a fun way to spend some time for me. Now she’s basically my common-law wife

     @birdulon @monsterislandcolonizer It’s really the big bugbear for us. I kinda knew what I was getting into, too. She’s very petite and slim and just has that body type where you just know she’s probably anemic. We still haven’t gone in and done a fertility panel even though they’re super cheap, because my next job should have better benefits for it, but it keeps getting pushed back. We’ll see, this whole thing from the start has been me just throwing all my responsible, sensible decision making into the void and gambling on her. Maybe hitting 30 just made me impatient and apathetic about doing things the ‘right’ way.

     If she DOES get pregnant (knock on wood) I’ll courthouse-marry her by week’s end, (okay we’ll travel somewhere to do it and make a little show out of it) but so far nothing’s latched. Though we’re coming up on a year since she’s gotten actual consecutive periods, so I have this vague sense that it’s like an old engine stirring to life and getting its rhythm back. Like every other teen girl, her mom did the “right” thing and got her on the pill at 13. For “acne”, of course, she was too much of a NEET to hang out with boys

I didn’t think she’d be anything very maternal but after being here for a while she started getting involved with raising animals with the kids doing 4H. She became the catch-all babysitter and worked her way up.

     When I first got with her she was…..basically an internet-addicted NEET? Big into just sitting around at home and reading garbage online (I suspect fanfiction but she’s tried to hide it out of embarrassment). Now she’s always finding some weird thing to obsess over or deal with. Really set my desire to never lock my kids in suburbia. It’s cool having lots of chores to keep you out of the house.

     I definitely didn’t see the current-version of her in the tea leaves when we met. I’m optimistic about the baby thing. She’s got the time, she’s early 20’s and only been fully off BC for like, 1.5 years now?

     Hell, she’s out with all the nieces right now, doing some….cheer thing? Recital? IDK. Something with the aunt & kids. I think getting her out of her home & family let her bloom into an adult, become her own person.

She was a rudderless NEET after doing a semester of comm college from home, and her parents pushed her into taking a job w/ a dentist we both know. I met her when I was visiting the old hometown for the holidays, and my dad told me to go drop off a present to the guy while advising me to “checkout the cute receptionist, she’s totally your type”

     I hung out in the lobby for a while flirting with her, and the dentist helped me by teeing her up w/ “can you believe she’s single? She never even goes out, she’s a total homebody… why don’t you take her out?“ I was leery of the age gap at first, so to me I fell into this weird frame where I offered to take her on a “practice date”. We ended up going downtown to check out the xmas decorations and eat at a nice little restaurant (bc I liked the food, some places really need a partner to go).

     For her, it really broke the pattern of everything she hated about dating, because it wasn’t the usual thing of ‘hanging out’ on someone’s couch and ‘watching’ garbage on TV. She got to wear a dress and feel like an actual adult for once, which was novel for her. Combine it with the fact that her boss/fam friend vouched for me as trustworthy, and the “practice date” pretext let me put her at ease knowing I wouldn’t be forcing her into anything.

     Not really a strategy that would work on most gals by any means, they’re much more forthcoming about dating and have a good deal of experience under their belt. She’d just had those classic naive girl experiences like “oh you wanna hang out in the backseat of your car? okay, yeah hey what’re you doing?!?!?” so she’s pretty gun-shy. Add in the fact that she never really liked going out and meeting people, content to stay at home, and I totally get why her parents were almost glad to have me take her off their hands.

The world is getting freaky out there, and while the guys are TFW NO GF®, they’ve also quit trying for a woman, retreating from the field entirely. Who’s left? The horndogs, the cocksman, the playboys. There aren’t that many trustworthy, ‘good’ guys of quality like there used to be, and there’s still a cohort of women looking for that (granted we’re in a weird area, pretty trad, and still like 80% where she’s from.)

     They aren’t into playing the field, they want a consistent relationship, and while the guys want it, they’re not coming into contact with these girls. Both sides go to a commuter schools and walk right out after class to drive home and “beat the traffic”. They work jobs and can’t flirt, they go to church on the prowl (and scare the women away b/c nice girls hate turning a handful of men down every week)

     I wish the farms fedi was up, because I described this phenomenon once and beccassine chimed in asking how I described her sister to a T. It’s a very, sadly common pattern. The only reliable way to meet people is friends & family networking you to each other. You gotta be a guy who makes them feel that angst of a good guy going unused (b/c we’re kinda like prizes or fixes for women in a bad way) so they say “oh you’re single? you should totally meet my niece, she’s great, wanna see a pic?”

     Yeah I quit trying some 4 years ago, telling myself that it just wasn't happening before reaching any career success, and that I intended to move away anyway so leave it for the other side. Neither of those have happened yet so I'm just a risky investment more than a turnkey solution :doggoblob:

     I've had maybe 3 of these but all of them were 29-35 so I had to politely decline since that timeline is waaaay too short for my comfort and I'm adamant on having multiple kids without unnecessary complications (I have a close relative that is like a poster-child of geriatric pregnancy risk and I saw firsthand how much it strained everyone involved).

I’m just warning against going on a kiss-free date with the average girl because they don’t have that baggage. But, if you go for shy girls with social awkwardness then you get a lower bodycount, most likely.

     I can’t imagine the “practice date” thing being anything BUT hopelessly gay and simpish when used on 90% of women. But, it let us get over her hesitance to go out w/ a stranger and ease into dating slowly, and I’m not quite sure it would have been possible without slowly working her into it. She was pretty weird about dating. Zoomers really have no idea what’s going on. It’s like they’re acting out a mix of scripts from Friends, the Office, and pornography.

     It seems to me that there is a desire to attempt to describe the phenomenon without hurting the feelings of women. This is pointless. The problem of female leadership cannot be countered by engaging in feminine spirited arguments and obfuscations.
