For some reason, my mind believes there was a Muppets special which co-starred Alan Rickman, and I am repeatedly disappointed to find that this never actually happened.

@mogwai_poet I used to live in an area with wild horses which would occasionally make their way into urban areas.

I once saw one of those programmable road work signs which said "CAUTION WILD HORSES IN ROAD", but didn't see any horses so I just figured the last horse to leave the road forgot to turn off the sign.

They are replacing my cursed workstation, and I'm delighted that the purchasing department's ticket has duplicated the title of the helpdesk ticket, which as you may remember is "My Windows desktop is properly screwed; like, it's impressive how screwed it is"

@vkc @bflipp Yeah, a few years ago I tried switching my small SmartThings setup to HA, but was overwhelmed and gave up on it because HA is pretty resistant to new setup unless you've already got velocity.

... Several years later and I have 117 devices, 998 entities and 39 automations. It's awesome and I love it and it sucks and I would never want to do it again.

I understand it's rough to lose accounts you follow from Threads but unfortunately it is not worth the risk

Unpopular opinion: I'm not a fan of breaded chicken nuggets. They're not bad, but I much prefer battered nuggets, and McDonalds is pretty much the only one which does that. Seriously, why can't I get battered nuggets from the grocery freezer?

@ckape I have a desktop which I built with a Ryzen 1600X, then a home server with a 2700X. A few years later, motherboard chipset updates allow them to go up a few generations, so I maxed out the server with a 5800X, then moved the 2700X to the desktop (which coincidentally could only go up to 2000 series, so it was also maxed).

Just filed an IT helpdesk ticket at work with the title "My Windows desktop is properly screwed; like, it's impressive how screwed it is".

I have a note in my calendar for Thursday, marking the 50 years without an incident at Ontario International Airport. No idea why I wanted to remember that, but it reinforces the idea that ONT is the world's most boring / quaint major international airport.

Maybe the point was to make this post.

I have a home Asterisk setup, and it's nearly 20 years old. It has a ton of vestigial configurations, including SIP and dialplan integrations with two former employers (one of which has been defunct for nearly 15 years).

Today it has a SIP provider (voip.ms), and serves two ATA adapters injecting the home POTS and payphone, both of which I was working on this weekend. I also have some SIP phones in storage, including a few SPA504Gs.

This is a Western Electric 1D2, the last of the "dumb" payphones of the 80s/90s. I did a video about it back in 2015, shortly after I bought it.

(It's 45 minutes but is actually pretty good! I rewatched it recently with the expectation of "Wait, I made a 45 minute off-the-cuff video? This is going to be a rambling mess.", but was pleasantly surprised.)
