@sjb 2700K is fine for me, as long as it's 90+ CRI it's fine. 5000K is a little too blue for me; for my garage I like 4000K which is even harder to find in e.g. shop light form.

From a few months ago: I remember an old EPA PSA commercial during the initial commercial availability of CFLs. It was of a guy balancing on a series of chairs, changing a high up light bulb and complaining about needing to do it again. Another person walks into frame, holds a CFL up to him and says "This one will last seven years, guaranteed."

The commercial's slogan was "looks funny, saves money". I see a few references to the slogan on google, but the commercial seems to be lost to time.

Remember when "honey, we're out of light bulbs, could you pick up a few at the grocery store?" was a thing that just happened all the time?

The last time I bought standard A19 2700K 800lm 60W equivalent LED bulbs was circa 2016. Everything I've needed since then has been "specialty" in some way or another.

Put it this way, I just discovered Cree was acquired and exited the consumer market years ago.

@nora Actually thank you! I have several meds I take in the morning, and used to take them when I woke up. But recently I was added one which needs to be first thing in the morning and I need to wait 30 minutes before taking/eating/drinking anything else. This is causing me to occasionally forget the rest of them.

I know they're just keeping up with the times, but I'm getting tired of the grocery store announcing every time I check out.

@brooke Historically I've been happy with Zyxel's managed gigabit switches, but when I looked to add 2.5Gbps a few months ago, they were a bit expensive for what I wanted to do.

Ultimately I got an 8-port 2.5Gbps + 2 10Gbps SFP+ switch which I found suspiciously cheap, but have been happy with. Only downside is it's unmanaged.

@eric @dashdsrdash My favorite TMBG show was when they opened for themselves as a TMBG tribute band. They came up on stage as Sapphire Bullets, played all of Flood, left, came back as themselves and played some new stuff.

For future reference, the RadioShack PRO-94 does not simply let you "tune to a frequency". You must assign it to a bank channel. For example, to assign 121.5 to channel 1:

MAN, PROG, 1, PROG, 121.5, E, MAN

Then to actually tune to that channel:

MAN, 1, MAN

Dug out the RadioShack PRO-94 for the first time in awhile, and every time I do this, I am reminded of how utterly incomprehensible the UI is if you’re just picking it up.

@eniko Creepy, I just 10 minutes ago added Drumstick ice cream cones to my shopping list, after going "hmm, it's been decades since I've had one".

Apropos of nothing, the best ice cream is It's It on the US west coast. Ice cream sandwiched between two oatmeal cookies, and dipped in chocolate.
