@Outpatientzero@aral yep, I'll vote Harris, and I'll celebrate when Trump loses, but pretending she is a good candidate representing good policy, or that her winning means we have a healthy democracy, nope.
@arstechnica My parents drank ridiculous amount of Mountain Dew for decades and it had BVO in it for most of that time. I had a fair amount myself in my high school years. Probably nothing to worry about? 😬
@aral kooha what I have used and been pretty happy with for short screen recordings. Has options for quality and frame rate and file type output - Gif webm MP4 etc.
@nixCraft maybe others have pointed out already, but copyright and trademark violation are quite different, and OpenAI seems to be asserting on trademark not copyright in spite of the text here talking about "copyrighted logos" it seems more about unauthorized use of trademarked logo
Not that I want to defend OpenAI, but if you want to pin them on something I don't think this would be it
@arstechnica Love my current Kobo! There are very few occasions I can think of where color might have been legitimately nice to have, but still sort of tempting to upgrade for this big technological upgrade.
devs or dev teams that aren't big enough to maintain apps in various app stores and wrestle with all the arbitrary approval hoops are also pissed. A lot of them just want PWAs to be a realistic option. Many already had working PWAs that will now be broken.
Your focus on "big tech" sets up a Google & Meta vs Apple frame. but Apple vs the web and indie devs, while maybe less dramatic is probably where the real impact lies for most users and devs
@arstechnica Nice nod to @notjustbikes in that post, but might want to check out one of my other favorite on this topic @TheWarOnCars has to say WRT your line, "it's what US customers want from their new vehicles, like it or not", because that is a very bad way interpretation of 'market trends'.
@arstechnica So one of the reason developers like @slightlyoff hypothesized that actual alternative browsers on iOS are not allowed was to protect App Store profits, and not to say that is wrong, but a 36% cut of Google's revenue from default placement in Safari has to factor in too!
Though it only emphasizes how underfunded Safari development was for so long given how much revenue it was generating.
