@ElDeadKennedy mi amigo, these are jp fonts! if you want a lightweight one for your computer there are a few i can recommend - but i presume you are using some flavor of unix?
@lanodan@sun it's a...bit more complicated than that; beliau for instance is just a third person pronoun, but some words can serve multiple functions
for example the one you'll see me use on fedi the most, "kakak" or shortened to "kak" is defined as "older sibling" (gender neutral)
but it can be used to address someone as if it were a second person pronoun, e.g. "kakak mau ngapain hari ini" or as a quasi-honorific e.g. "kak cell mau ngapain hari ini"
@sun@lanodan eh, i wouldn’t call it hierarchy more so than just respect - if i refer to someone by beliau (indonesian equivalent of -sama/様) they’ve earned it
@lanodan@sun funnily enough referring yourself with your own name in indonesian has the exact same connotations as it does in jp, usually associated with girls and usually has cute if not immature associations
@sun i think what makes this interesting to me personally is just that they were willing to stick this right in the middle of a major metropolis (that is liable to be nuked too) in plain sight
iirc other countries bundle their telco exchanges/glowie monitoring spots all in some rural area near borders or seas or in the middle of nowhere but here it’s like there in new york passed by everyone
