@Tamamo I hate this disingenuous argument so much, and it was used on me before when I noticed Elden Ring's Body Type A/B labels in the char creation menu. "Why do you care?" "It doesn't affect the gameplay." Sure, it has no bearing on the game, but it was so important to play up the politics that they DID add it in. Same with Body Type A/B labeling in Monster Hunter Rise and Elden Ring. No, it isn't just some inconsequential label, because it's evidence of cancer.

Things like these are not "meaningless" because it was meaningful enough to the devs to make the change from what is NORMAL. What is normal? Everyone knows what a person's pronouns are and you don't need to inject your made up ones, and everyone knows that there are two sexes male and female and you pick between them for character creation. The two go hand in hand as well. To change this convention is to directly challenge the language we use to communicate. And you know what's stupid? They appeal to triviality by telling you "It's not hard to ask someone for their pronouns so it's not a big deal," but really it's a pledge of allegiance. If you refuse to, they know you are on the "opposite side." These idiots have no idea that I can quickly and effortlessly identify what a person is and use the correct pronouns. No asking and no risk of "misgendering" (whatever that nonsense means).

The truth is, people like Ian directly run defense for the game devs because they have coerced the studio into obeying their politics and they can't let normal people (us) get in the way by questioning it. They're convinced the new normal is having established pronouns. I am sad that there wasn't as much of a big stink over Body Type A/B in Elden Ring, because that's the one little shit stain on an otherwise pretty good game (even though I do have legit problems with it lol).

Also, the fact that he defends this by saying that it opens more roleplaying opportunities just shows you how insidious the arguments are. How are you going to disagree with that point? Technically he is right, if the game does actually change up how characters refer to you, then there IS a brand new opportunity to roleplay as a mentally ill patient. But to get past these POS's you need to just reject the argument entirely and focus on the point that pronoun conventions are a symbol of political conquest. REJECT IT ENTIRELY BECAUSE IT IS NOT NORMAL!

@ChristiJunior Ah man my buddy is going to give me hell for this but, since I know both games' lore, I put my vote in for Pyra. Asuna isn't by any means a bad girl but she is kinda like... just a quirky girlfriend kind of character. Meanwhile other characters in her own canon -and particularly her opponent in this poll- are much more... wife-like.

It's not like you couldn't waifu Asuna, I just think Pyra has a lot more going for her. Asuna has a caring and gentle side to her, but the character building in Blue Archive is kinda limited since they have to divide a lot of attention among the different cast members. Asuna is pretty important and prevalent throughout Blue Archive's main story but she's just always been her happy-go-lucky (literally) self through out the entire thing. She is competent though, her rifle isn't just for show. I guess it depends on your personal tastes of what you find cute or attractive; do you like a more calm and deliberate girl (Pyra) versus a spontaneous and airheaded girl (Asuna).

@Kyonko802 I for one like that Ayre can be pretty much whatever waifu the artist interprets. I saw one where she was kind of like a Ranni, another busty one where her whole body was kind of like galaxy red (Cortana esque I guess), and now this one.

@rher Looking through the available splash messages, they reference contemporary US politics, the COV19 plandemic. Once you get to added splash messages 408 onward, you get endorsements for Burn Loot Murder, actual racism (anti-racism), and BIPOC nonsense. No surprise, those messages are in the latest versions of minecraft.

The first notion of political messaging is in 1.12 with the mention of covfefe. 1.12 is 3 years after Notch sells Mojang to Microsoft, which is plenty of time for commies to sneak in. Messages 408 onward referencing even more contemporary politics is in 1.16. :reimu_sigh:

@rher Hoho, let me tell you a thing or two about the modded scene.

I still have not been able to pin point which mod does this, but something on AllTheMods floods loot tables with banners. Sometimes they are thematic to the region (appropriate), other times they are varieties of the mental illnesses. These can just be ignored or tossed away, or washed and repurposed (free wool), but I still get annoyed at how many there are.

Another mod dealing with bees has a small % chance of spawning a bee that is colored with stripes down its thorax with -you guessed it- mental illness flags. A mod called "Productive Bees" lets you pick up and down bees, which funnily erases the flag (double entendre; both the backend/code flag as well the visual flag on the Bee itself).

I've been with Minecraft for a very long time, and it's pretty sad to see how Mojang turned out, lol.
