    @Zerglingman @merchantHelios all the genuine creators have been squeezed out or banned, and there's nothing left but fake pranks and listicles read by robot voices. It's very rare to find a history or true crime video that has information that you haven't heard before and is narrated by a human being rather than a robot voice. Youtube is gone.

    @koropokkur @Zerglingman @vic the Bible doesn't need proof. It only needs faith. Only if some sort of evidence turned up, like Noah's Ark, the Holy Grail, or the Ark of the Covenant were found, would proof be required again. And a failure of proof is the enemy of faith, so as much as I would love to see any one of those things, it's probably better if they're never found. Especially since science is incapable of definitively proving or disproving their authenticity. It would only start arguments, and in the heat of discussion, some people's faith would evaporate imho.

    @Zerglingman @vic see, I don't give two shits about the Bible, although I admit I'd be pretty excited if the Ark of the Covenant or the Holy Grail turned up (and would very much like either object to be 100% authenticated by science if it did turn up). I'm more interested in whether any part of the Peloponnesian War was actually real, and being able to quickly debunk hoaxes like the crystal skulls, the Peruvian alien mummies, and the shroud of Turin as quickly as possible.

    Also, science doesn't understand how much they've undermined their own authority by lying about things and getting caught at it, specifically about covid.

    @philosophy you picked the right instance for free speech. Afaik the only things banned are spam and child pornography. The owner and administrator, @p , doesn't like having to wear his administrator socks. Everything is permissible except those two things.

    Ok so most first-world countries have shipped out all their manufacturing jobs to third-world countries. These are the jobs that lower-middle class and working poor used to do. Add in AI and robots and even the local jobs like fast food are drying up. There are already completely robotic McDonalds in Japan, not a single human employee. So now we have a huge pool of people who are basically unemployable; AI is even snatching up some of the white collar jobs, such as copywriters, so that's even more people permanently out of work.

    So why did we give all these people's jobs away, to the point that even college-educated, well-paid workers are hitting the unemployment line? The answer is simple: carbon credits. No country that has manufacturing will be able to meet net zero goals. Even the white collar workers add to the carbon footprint; they have to commute to the office, they need special clothes to work in, they each need a workspace with up-to-date electronics, lights, chairs, and carpeting. AI needs none of this; one big server can replace probably a hundred or more cubicles in a white-collar cubicle farm. It's even cheaper and creates less carbon than having them work from home, because they don't do their jobs and they still need electronics and chairs. And with fast food wages going up to $20 an hour in places like California and New York, it's cheaper to buy a few robots and get rid of all the commutes and nylon uniforms. Eliminating the employee is an important part of reaching carbon zero on time.

    Now as for how the UBI is going to be paid for, that remains a mystery. I suspect that the Black Mirror episode in which the UBI recipients rode exercycles to generate power and watched ads and propaganda while they peddled isn't too far off the mark.
