Who lets a crappy noise reduction algorithm loose on a perfectly ripped DVD of a perfectly mixed major production with no sound issues whatsoever and repacks the show for a new torrent labelled "IMPROVED AUDIO"?
I want names!

@alcinnz Well, you could pick any 5 people and find problematic things about them. Especially when their lifes are made public because they're celebrities.
@alcinnz Well, reading up on some of their lifes including the problematic things, I could ruin it for you. But I don't want to.
@alcinnz I only know Groucho from his TV show (in the 60s I think). The first two things I think f when I think of him are sexist and smooth. But he did make me lough even there.
Well, maybe you have to accept the sexist jokes because of the time he grew up in.
Oh, look, it's that discussion again but without nazis.
@alcinnz Mostly, yes. But I wanted to correct them about that statement that computers cannot understand structure from formatting. I guess there was no language that did that at the time.
An educational film (in this case literally film) from 1975 about how to prevent programming errors:
Critical Program Reading

Besides the actual lessons (readability/naming convention, formatting, structuring, difference between coding and programming), I liked these parts:
"Nothing is wrong with you. Remember: Criticise the programme, not the people."
"That's hard for me." - "Don't apologise. Nobody uses his brain more than necessary."
TIL that Nokia didn't actually start #Symbian and didn't even develop it at the time they used it on the #Nokia Communicator devices (Nokia 9200 in 2001, Nokia 9300/9500 in 2004 and Nokia E90 in 2007).
I never realised that Nokia licensed the OS, nor did I realise that it was started by Psion and is actually the same OS as the 32 bit version of EPOC.
Nor did I realise that Symbian Ltd., the company from which the Symbian Foundation arose, was the same company as #Psion after a name change.
I guess maybe I should check out an old Psion #PDA after all. I might like it more than I assumed, if only for it's OS.
person who usually doesn't know what to put in a bio, theoretical maker (having ideas and then not #making them), self-identified #neurodivergent, privacy-loving bearer of an abnormal brain, grown-up boy, naive but not as gullible as I used to be, #DataHoarder, doing coordinated clicky typie stuff for a salary.changing interests: digital #electronics/computers, #retrotech, the #SmallWeb, DIYing things from scrap, recreational #programming, bash, #dream #science, …Spike is best pony.
