   Announcing the winner of Comedic Tournament Round 1 Match 1:

   A mocumentory about vampires (amongst other classic horror monsters) living in Wellington, NZ won.

   This vied with Taika Waititi's other film in this tournament, about a young boy being brainwashed in Nazi Germany having to confront the fact his mother's hiding a jew in their walls.

   Another anti-Nazi satire came last, a slapstick Charlie Chaplin flick from that time. Won Oscars & a ban from Germany!

   Third place: The Marx Brothers...

     If you're curious what early 20th-century comedy was like, I can't recommend The Marx Brothers highly enough! Each brother represented a different comedic style popular at the time, and I'm not aware of anything problematic about them to object to. Their name should give you an idea of their political leanings...

     You have the punny Chico Marx, the slapstick Harpo Marx, & the fast-talking Groucho Marx.

     They made numerous films from the 1920's to the 1950's.

     @alcinnz I only know Groucho from his TV show (in the 60s I think). The first two things I think f when I think of him are sexist and smooth. But he did make me lough even there.

     Well, maybe you have to accept the sexist jokes because of the time he grew up in.

     Oh, look, it's that discussion again but without nazis.

     @alcinnz also, Harpo and Chico were pretty amazing musicians. Growing up, I read Harpo's autobiography over and over until it fell apart.

     @steeph Hmmmm, I think I'll start watching their entire filmography...

     O.K., I'll rescind my comment about the lack of "problematic" aspects. But that'd still leaves them as amongst the best of their time, and an excellent time capsule!

     @alcinnz Well, you could pick any 5 people and find problematic things about them. Especially when their lifes are made public because they're celebrities.
