You know one of the reasons I love interacting with Trans people so much, is because they are so joyous just to be existing as themselves. We all need to fight to keep that Trans Joy in the world. We need it! Vote, participate, give a shit, it matters!

I've said this before, but I'll say it again:

If you have a new account or an account that's recently moved instances, make sure to add a picture/avi, a bio, a header, and pin a toot or boost a couple things. Most of us won't follow an account that looks empty, in case they are bots, we just want to make sure you're an actual person.

UGH FFS, some people don't know when to shut up, and Lance Armstrong is one of them. I legitimately don't understand the fear here, a cursory Google search can explain why it doesn't matter, so he, and all the people like him, don't actually want to be educated, they just want to stir up controversy.

I am white, and was raised in small mostly white communities when I was young, but moved to a larger city as a young teenager. Like a lot of white kids, I didn't understand how much of a thing casual everyday racism was, until I met my future best friend Cameron. I'd never been pulled over by the cops before, and now suddenly I was getting pulled over frequently, for no reason at all, the only difference was now there was a black man in the car. I remember the first time getting pulled over, and the cop asking for all of our ID's with no explanation at all, Cam saw me about to mouth off, and the look of terror on his face made me shut up immediately. Later, he told me when it happened again to just comply, don't ask questions, don't get angry. I had never had to view cops with fear before, in my mind, you only needed to be afraid if you were a criminal, but Cam was afraid, just for existing as black. If people try to tell you that black people are dramatizing their struggle, they are lying!

I keep seeing articles about Mastodon slumps, and journalists going back to Twitter. Is it fair to say, that maybe Mastodon isn't for journalists, or brands, or even people who want large accounts? Maybe Mastodon is true social media, for people who want to interact and discuss, not be influenced, sold to, or manipulated with cult style tactics and followings. There will always be groups who dislike the idea of the people controlling their own inputs, people who don't like the idea of accessible Administration, and people who don't like the idea that if we don't like a space that we can just move to another one, or even create our own. Individualism is scary to the kind of people who thrive on complacency, and not challenging the status quo.

Remember when all cars came with cigarette lighters and ashtrays, but seat belts were kind of optional.
