Maybe choosing the most popular option isn’t always the best one if you want the best set of features.

1. Having a strong brand reputation means that you don’t need to try very hard to stay on top.
2. Having a strong brand reputation also means that you can charge more for a given product because people will “buy the brand”.
3. Large corporations tend to make course corrections very slowly, so they’ll be behind the curve.
4. Large public corporations have their stakeholders as their primary customers, not the people buying their products.
5. Large corporations lobby the government hard to make sure they stay on top, usually at the expense (in multiple senses) of the public.
