Another thing I was wondering, how do I say Queer in French? Google says it is “Pédé” but it seems to have more of a negative connotation than Queer as if it has yet to be reclaimed. It seems to still be used frequently as an insult. I would appreciate it if someone who has a better knowledge of the French language and culture could offer some guidance. @IllBringYouFlow @ianmnoone @aurelien So some other people have mentioned that Queer is not as popular a concept in France and that this may be because of it's similar sound to "cuire" (cook). Is there maybe a more common umbrella term that you know?

@ianmnoone So a few people from France commented on the French version of this post ( https://toot.lgbt/@Questioning/109591836465971252 ) It seems that “Pédé” is very much still an insult but is sometimes used playfully within the LGBTQ+ community. Another thing I have noticed is that for the most part pride associations in France seem to use LGBT+ and not LGBTQ+. I am wondering if "Queer" is maybe not as common a term in general over there. I will update as I find out more.

@aurelien @IllBringYouFlow @ianmnoone Queer is a general label that covers all LGBTQ+ identities. It is also commonly used as a transitional term by people like me who are still figuring out how they identify.
