josemanuel@qoto.org's status on Tuesday, 05-Sep-2023 03:42:07 JST josemanuel Lately I’m seeing posts from freespeechextremist.com that look completely empty from my instance. @p, do you know why that could be happenning?
I can see the contents using the API, but I fail to find anything weird about them.

josemanuel@qoto.org's status on Friday, 18-Aug-2023 06:23:09 JST josemanuel @Big_Richard They’re sold like that everywhere, dude. The reason is that people can now buy their tickets online, so of course they want to be able to choose where they’ll seat. Fortunately, some theaters reserve certain sessions for unassigned seating, which I personally prefer, but that’s become a relic, sadly.

josemanuel@qoto.org's status on Friday, 18-Aug-2023 00:46:04 JST josemanuel @noyoushutthefuckupdad There are records I would never want to listen to on vinyl (my go-to example is Radiohead’s OK Computer), but vinyl is still a great format, if only for the cover art.
That said, many artists use those cracks and pops in their own records to get an absolutely mesmerising sound, like Portishead, Massive Attack or The Avalanches.
Finally, CD remasters suck. Even with cracks and pops, people knew how to produce records that sounded awesome back then. That seems to be a lost art now.

josemanuel@qoto.org's status on Sunday, 30-Jul-2023 05:25:24 JST josemanuel @freemo In any case, I think your general point (that free speech instances are frowned upon due to certain people being edgy) was true in the past, but not so much today. I believe those who came in the Twitter migrations wanted a place where they could feel relaxed and be themselves, and instead got a place full of ultrasensitive vigilantes.
I think the tables have turned and free speech has become popular again (a necessity, even), because a lot of people feel constrained by all those “unwritten rules” mentioned in the article @Moon linked to.
