I think it is great when people think the fediverse is dead. More people that think the criteria of success is growth in accounts should think we're dead. We don't need that mindset here.

Has anyone considered that bringing the corporations here could make it more expensive to host an instance so we become dependent on them?

Sometimes it is annoying to hear that something will all come together. Because it won't magically happen, I have to put the effort in to make sure it does.

@thatbrickster This is stupid. Just don't send them to look after transgender/transsexuals. The sector can't afford to be this picky if they are otherwise able to do the job role.

@thatguyoverthere @noyoushutthefuckupdad @charliebrownau Yeah, it probably doesn't help that often citations are mainstream news articles. And we know that the mainstream has become a tool for the establishment. It is harder now to shake things up.

@charliebrownau @noyoushutthefuckupdad @thatguyoverthere Doesn't help that these things are in fewer hands now, not going to get a whole lot of diversity from that. Then if something does shake things up a bit and become popular, it is eventually sold to one of the fewer hands.

Is it really difficult to use Mastodon to find your place/instance?
Because I came over during the GS days and that honestly wasn't an issue for me as a non-techy. Sure, I've had to move around a few times since those days and it sucks, but in the earlier days it was encouraged to have a backup account in case something happened to your main instance. So you kind of just learned as you went, as even a lot of the instance admins have had to do over the years. It's not that different to how I used twitter anyway.

@zxcvfadsf That's great to hear. I'm glad we can be an awesome source to remain on the fediverse despite everything that has happened since. I'm not sure where I would have gone myself.

Too many people are starved of love and good company, that they feel that they have to stand out in the crowd to get the attention they crave. With more people trying to stand out, they have to do something more drastic for that attention. It leaves little room for good manners, tolerance and getting along with people.

@noyoushutthefuckupdad @coolboymew Same where I am it seems. It gets excused and brushed away but there is no excuse for it, not even being in poverty because it only makes things there worse. It impoverishes the impoverished, perhaps even driving businesses away from the area or making a small business have to shut down because they can't afford more stock. It tends to happen to more impoverished places. Very rarely do the wealthy areas get hit with this, I mean the spaces that the elites go to.
