@coolboymew @sickburnbro Yeah, I have seen it being used in the same manner that pronouns are. As a political signifer which is a shame.
-
@Ottovonshitpost @coolboymew Damn. That is fucked up. I didn't know about that part... makes me wonder where pride came into it.
-
@nobullyplz @Ottovonshitpost @coolboymew Oh yeah, I don't really get the whole queer thing. I remember LGBT but I'm lost when it comes to the rest of it.
-
@threalist @coolboymew So even feminism is a means for creating more power to this regime?
-
@sickburnbro @coolboymew A point of brokenness well made.
-
@sickburnbro @coolboymew Ironic because what happens when being queer is the norm?
In recent times, I have felt that they have destroyed the meaning of being queer so it is hard to relate to it when it has all their baggage attached to it. Even though I would probably be considered queer as in weird or different in a different time.
-
@ImperialAgent I was thinking more about their health needs, particularly those relating to their sexuality and activities from it. I'd also like to not go back to a point where they have to hide their sexuality which makes them more likely to turn to hookup culture, getting into fights and the fear of being found out or imprisoned.
I would also like to see less divisiveness within LGBT because I don't think that the current activism is helping in meeting their needs. It just turns the rest of society against them. So I get why people don't take this seriously.
-
@threalist @coolboymew Strange how it will even attack recent institutions set up to protect and ensure the needs of another group are met. Like I have seen the trans issues subvert feminist institutions. I don't know how else to put it.
-
@coolboymew It is tragic how this has been co-opted to be a subversive movement instead of achieving the rights and needs of the individuals impacted without harming others.
-
@coolboymew Yeah, and there is always something else to move onto next. I don't think that social media has helped this either, because that seems to be where a lot of this is platformed now.
-
One thing that doesn't make sense to me is why heterosexuality is demonised within LGBT+. Even if we put aside heteros and the damage it does to them, do they not realise the damage that this does to people who are bisexual? How does this demonising help bisexuals? What is the point in including bisexuals when you demonise a part of them? You end up erasing them and the very real needs they have instead.
-
I wonder if LGBT+ has reached its peak usefulness. Because it seems to be more about what is trendy for where the focus is.
When we were focused on gay marriage, in a way that meant that bisexuals and trans people took a back seat in their needs. Now that gay people can marry in the west, the focus has moved onto trans issues. So now the needs of gay people take a back seat or even get erased. Even lesbians are being erased, their needs and comfort are diminished. On saying this, I have never seen bisexuals get specific attention so that their needs are met. It's always in relation to same sex coupling.
But really each group has their unique needs and rights which require careful consideration and then to ensure that those rights aren't rolled back to a point that is detrimental to them and society at large.

@grillchen @kaia @lain @Moon Yeah, I suppose that is the problem with a lot of courses. It doesn't give you the knowledge and tools that you will directly need. It's more about the theory side of things.
-
@Moon @lain @grillchen @kaia That is tragic, because if it was that bad for you then I can only imagine how much worse it has gotten since then.
-
@lain @grillchen @kaia Boy am I glad that I didn't get stuck in this even more now.
-
@grillchen Stress tolerance in what way?
-
I sometimes wonder if they even listen to themselves or look at the things they attempt to signal to everyone.
-
Why are academics so cringe?
-
"I visited Waterstones recently and left without buying any books because the incessant indoctrination became unbearable. Shelves were full of 'white privilege and systemic racism, black history, oppression and how to decolonise your wardrobe', other fashionable buzz words such as 'how to be your real self, proud and queer, you can be anything you want to be' with book covers full of the gender unicorn and rainbows.
You couldn't also help noticing the mass invasion of the 'children's self-help books' on anxiety, depression, OCD, gender questioning, neurodivergence, ableism, bullying etc etc , a real smorgasbord of conditions to select your next victim status to further reduce their resilience in the real world, if that exists anymore."
This is not wrong, unfortunately. It's all over the book stores now.
-
@Zerglingman @newt Yeah, I think there was some event which led to it. Maybe I'll meet moon next year if he comes over here.
I'm gutted that I can't meet up with a bunch of people that I watch on youtube this year. But maybe it is better this way. Maybe I'll meet them some other way if it is meant to be.
