New article! "How to Propose Features to GNOME" https://theevilskeleton.gitlab.io/2023/03/24/how-to-propose-features-to-gnome.html
After 2-3 months of research, I can finally rest :)
The more I research UI and UX, the more I realize that it's an extremely difficult subject to understand.
My next article is about how you can suggest features to GNOME. It's literally taking 2 months to do the research, because I'll be explaining a lot about UX and GNOME's philosophy. It's almost done, but I have the feeling that I'm not satisfied
I just discovered a neat detail on GitHub and beta.flathub.org: the favicon changes depending on the preferred style. They will use a white icon when using the dark style preference, and black icon when using the light style preference
I know it's a small detail but I'm really impressed by the attention to details

Just don't use GNOME and Wayland if you think that "Linux has become too complicated"? @distrotube https://youtu.be/1EIpek60rs0
GNOME is designed for the average person and developer, and people with disabilities, and that's pretty much it. Linux desktop isn't Windows; if you don't like something then switch to an alternative.
You're blaming the wrong people here. If you want to blame bad actors then take a look at what Google has done with Android and ChromeOS
Job search: Python developer, GTK+libadwaita, Flatpak packager, technical writer, article writer/editor - remote
I’m looking for contract or part-time remote job for writing software in Python, writing documentation, writing and editing articles, packaging apps as a Flatpak and publishing them on Flathub.
I'm open to expand my knowledge, in case it's not enough.
You can find more information on my website: https://theevilskeleton.gitlab.io/work
Boosts are appreciated.

For people who say "big buttons don't help on a computer": This is untrue. I constantly fidget and click the wrong buttons when they're tiny, despite having excellent eyesight. "Big" buttons help me click the right buttons without worrying about clicking something else.
So please, stop saying that they don't help. It disrespects the people who genuinely need larger buttons to use their computer or laptop painlessly, and also discredits devs and designers who put effort into #accessibility.
> Q: Why go through the trouble of creating this? It only takes 5 minutes to install Flatpak!
>
> A: You know, when someone saves you five minutes of your time it's probably better to thank them than to nitpick.
Exactly this! Never underestimate the power of a good out of the box setup.
Fun fact: WINE doesn't stand for Wine Is Not an Emulator anymore. Furthermore, it's not "WINE" anymore, it's "Wine".

> Wine (originally an acronym for "Wine Is Not an Emulator")
A useful tip for writing alt texts: Close your eyes and visualize. This may sound like an obvious trick but it's one that many seem to forget, including myself.
This is a really depressing article about the free and open source community mistreating maintainers.

Autocompletion and autosuggestion are some of the best features from #fish.
For those who want to learn #regex, but have a lot of trouble learning from articles and documentation, there is a really good lecture from #CS50 that goes from the basics of regex to making complex searches. It's two hours long, but it's worth watching.
