The GOP has introduced a bill to EXPEL Palestinians from the United States. I cannot read such things without remembering what happened to my own family after Pearl Harbor. After we and 120,000 other Japanese Americans were incarcerated in prison camps for years, without charge or trial, my own mother was very nearly expelled to Japan because of racial prejudice and hatred. Only the brave actions of a civil rights attorney saved her from being sent away. #NeverAgain
Trump knows what heโs doing when he calls his enemies โverminโ in his speeches and online. Heโs dehumanizing them. This has happened to my community twice in my lifetime: once during World War II, and again during the pandemic. It is so dangerous, and Trump knows it. Heโs preparing his base to do things that you canโt do to other humans, only to subhumans. Be warned. Be vigilant.
Today is ELECTION DAY. There are critical races and issues to be voted upon. Up for grabs is the entire Virginia state legislature, and we need to prevent another Florida from happening there. In Ohio, thereโs an abortion rights amendment to the state constitution that the GOP has done everything to try and defeat. And there are key governorsโ races in Kentucky and Mississippi. Letโs go, blue voters! Keep the momentum from the midterms going!
It is simply not possible to evacuate over one million people in 24 hours from the zone of attack in Gaza. The answer to horrific atrocities by Hamas cannot be collective punishment upon an entire population, 50 percent of which are children.
The Israeli government has cut off food, water, and fuel to 2 million people inside Gaza as part of its campaign to stamp out Hamas terrorism. Collective punishment is not only contrary to international law, it is inhumane and illogical. It is what my community once endured in World War II, all because of the actions of others who happened to share our ethnicity. Have we learned nothing? How will this possibly help deescalate the violence rather than radicalize many more? It is madness.
Donald Trump is in court again today, facing a civil trial that could cost him his business empire. Trump, his sons, and his company stand accused of falsely inflating property value prices in order to obtain favorable loans.
