@foone eh i guess computers had to be proprietary- too bad it couldn't work like the Videonics DirectED's RF control wands. At least logitech was thinking ahead.

@wonderofscience i've always thought this is such a cool solution to that area's specific needs and requirements.

@foone i'd probably say the same about the CD point and shoots but the cd1000 is a great camera, the reload system of physical media with the vibe of contemporary digicams like the cybershot and camedia. Its the best of both worlds imo, and has that big DSLR holdfeel with the good settings to play with. Its also the closest i'm gonna bother getting to DVD camcorders.

@foone here's a selfie with mine. I think it kinda looks like one of those press photos when they're at a red carpet premiere (or leading someone out of court i suppose), but not the one that gets published. I like the "dslr" style mavica model better but this was before i was using that one regularly. This was taken in the lowest quality mode because i like that digicam crunch. Still a lot clearer than you'd think. Have you gotten to play with the CD models yet?

@foone i'd love to see a browser developed that mimics the old versions, that can run on a modern computer or an old computer the same. I'd think you might have to tune out things like shopify and things that rely on chrome but like, no big loss let's be real. Websites developed old skool are really the only ones worth visiting.

@nixCraft also, if windows 10 wasn't such a trash operating system on lame hardware most of those would be skimmed by hardware enthusiasts and loved again like the pre-7 systems. So really who's fault is all this ewaste but a company who no longer provides a good or service anybody wants to buy and instead hangs on as a corporate leach with a dying niche.

@foone riddle me this: what's cool and old and should be beloved by lofi video nerds but retains zero online footprint and only one instance in existance (that i'm aware of)? The answer is in the pictures.

@Gargron its a dying fad. In reality, its just a thin veneer put up over the cruel machine of capitalism to make it seem trendy and hip to be exploited. You thought the blockchain died a miserable death being the pyramid scheme of useless tech, watch how hard AI falls, especially in this economy.

@arstechnica this is why i'll never drive anything made past the '90s, and prefer 1950 through 1988.
