I've replaced all the iffy caps in the PSU, seems to be fine now. Moving onto the motherboard, that 10uF cap is fried (not related to my mini explosion), time to pop a couple out and give them a test:
This Acer has hands down the best ever monochrome screen I've ever seen on a laptop, it's a triple supertwist nematic LCD, the clarity is absolutely beautiful ๐
Epson PC-386 Note A update: I got the original hard drive working, whoop! It has an original install of MS-DOS 3.3, so I'll be preserving that. I've switched out the drive for a CF card, currently installing the Japanese PC-9800 version of MS-DOS 6.20.....
