Does anyone know any brand and model numbers of early 90's PC VGA monitors, that are switchable between, black and white, amber, green or colour? I had one with my first 386 computer and this feature is the only thing I can remember about it, I'd love another.
This funky retro curio turned up today, now I need to decide what computer to test it in, I'm thinking of Pentium 100, which is from '94/95 when this card was made? I also need to give it a really good clean up.
@foone aside from the notorious head issues, there's a lot out there that just need cap replacements, I know I have one at least that needs this - I need to get around to it!
I have bought 5x Iomega ZIP100 drives in 2023, none of them have worked! I've taken a gamble on number six, these things have not stood the test of time, so fingers crossed for this one! 🤞
ISA Soundcard aficionados, any ideas what this one might be? I've searched based on the memory slots and the audio headers, but cannot find an exact match, any ideas or thoughts?
I also modified my Greaseweazel box: - Added a USB port (card readers, usb sticks etc.) - Mounted the primary USB port (computer connection). - added a Molex and Floppy power connector (5v + 12v), useful for testing stuff.
Had a chilled Saturday, mainly writing and reading back floppy images. My method for IBM is writing the image to disk with the Greaseweazel, read back the image, then first open in Winimage, then finally to test is to use the captured image in VirtualBox.
Success! I've managed to make an external DB25 To Floppy cable that works. I'm just casually booting my 486 Toshiba T1910CS from a 360k 5.25" Floppy! Yes!!!!! I'm thinking, should I design a PCB for this, others may find it useful?
Done! The most difficult part is the middle, if it's even a mm off centre it's going to wobble and probably tear, going at 300rpm+. As this is paper, Pritt stick works well to attach the centre hub.
I've snagged another one of these lovely Mitsubishi MF504C 5.25" 1.2MB Floppy Drives, (MF504C-318MB), it is very similar to my MF504C-310MP, but has a 40/80 track switch on the front which is pretty unusual. I'll post some better photos when it arrives.
I just wanted to share a few pre-refurb pictures, this thing is beautiful, the top cover has some wear, but after 33 years who doesn't! 😃 Spec: Acer AnyWhere Luggable PC - 1990 386SX 16Mhz 3MB RAM Conner 40MB HDD, sounds nice and loud and is moving heads correctly 1.44MB Floppy
