I've done Ops since the 90's with UNIX, Linux, Windows, Netware, you name it I probably have dealt with it.

I'm very interested in diagnosing issues, working on a solution, and ensuring they don't reoccur.

I love to build automation, but I'm not very interested in Kubernetes.

I've done software development in Ruby, Python. Wrote code for InSpec, hacked on Chef and Ansible.

So, I sell things on eBay. Its a modest living. Definitely not covering all the bills just yet, but getting there.. While sourcing items I found a interesting thing.

Check this out, from the outside, its just a normal James Bond book, hard cover, Ian Flemming. Nothing special really. But the inside holds something neat!

We open up the book, and inside we find a envelope. Ok. Sure. A envelope. Its got a piece of paper inside it pre-addressed to Doubleday Book Club. Lets take a look!

Its a bill for the book. Apparently Doubleday was like Columbia House.. You might not remember either so.. You sign up to a club and they send you books / music every month and then you have to pay for it or send it back if you're not interested.

What makes this special is, the bill is a PUNCH CARD. I've obscured the address (the street no longer exists anyway). Presumably, somebody received this, fed it into a computer and was able to mark the account as paid.
