No prying corporate eyes. No subscription fees. There are numerous benefits to running an AI language model locally, and a relatively new app called Alpaca makes it super easy!
I don't know if these incorrect password responses come from Fish or from Garuda, but either way I'm highly amused! Got a great laugh out of this today!
@ppgino They do have much more recent kernel, GPU drivers, etc, but your point remains. The outward appearance to people not closely following the news cycle might simply be stagnation.
@ahoneybun Heck, with that many core elements being updated, it's effectively still fresh. But I think we Linux gamers are just attracted to what's new and shiny.
@ahoneybun Perhaps I should have said "Disappointed" and not "Surprised." Pop and Proton are what got me so excited about gaming on Linux circa 2018-2020.
(Has it really been a few years since a new release? That indeed does explain it)
It's too bad Bazzite isn't reporting as its own unique distro. I hope that changes because it would be awesome to track its growth. I mean, they had DAY ONE support for the ROG Ally X, and all told it's a fantastic Fedora-based distro especially for handhelds.
I'm also surprised to see Pop OS declining this much in gaming marketshare.
@forteller@frameworkcomputer That feels like a fair criticism. I'm going to give the company the benefit of the doubt for now since they're striving to learn from the community, BUT...
I wholeheartedly agree that shipping with Linux preinstalled (such as Bluefin, Bazzite, Fedora, Ubuntu) is a better option. It makes a statement of support and confidence.
We NEED more PC companies to do this, AND to advertise that they're doing it.
@portaloffreedom It would be. Imagine having that on something like a System76 Thelio or a @frameworkcomputer laptop. But the cost for a potential competitor to even enter that market is probably astronomical.
