Same as tmux, just screens are preinstalled on the ubuntu server which I use most of the times. That's why I always that instead -

Personally using bare metal is ok, but there are stuff that will require you hours to run without containers. Debugging is easier without them, indeed, that's why I just use them to deploy stuff like gitea. If you are a programmer and you know what you are doing just use bare metal with screens or tmux -

Yeah but tmate proxies it up and doesn't require the users to both have access to the server. You can manage the tmate window and give view-only access.
It has some cool addons features -

It has its use cases when you don't 100% trust the party joining your terminal and also, it's faster then adding a pubkey for ssh.
Write and command and share a link, it can even be used in the browser -
