The one thing that brings us all together - our sexual orientation and gender identity - weighs conversation heavily in favour of those two factors.

Weโve also had short timeline in which weโve been able to operate openly in North America and Europe - this suppressed a lot of other aspects of culture or prevented them from developing in the first place.
An entire generation of queer people were decimated by HIV/AIDS. So a lot of what developed previously was also lost because there were very few people left to transmit them.
