Heavens FeelI got home from a matinee showing of Godzilla Minus One. It's a really good action/pressure cooker drama which also has a giant monster walking/stumbling/blasting its way through Japan. Despite its fantastical setup, it's played dead serious, and it manages to be a very affecting story with a lot of focus on the main character's PTSD, survivor's guilt, alienation, and other mental issues. It was also a good period drama and some of the horror and devastation of WWII was shown, such as the aftermath of the firebombing of Tokyo.
I'm very fortunate to have been able to see it in the theatre, and I plan to see it again (this time in black and white) when I have the opportunity.
Final rating: definitely worth seeing in the theatre, and if you're a fan of giant monster movies, you should see the movie right away.
@mangeurdenuage What we have now is a lot better. It's extremely convenient. You can load up a torrent and get what you want in a matter of minutes. But even so, I still remember how cool it was, and how excited I was , to program my VCR to record the 1970 horror film "The Dunwich Horror" which would be broadcast on cable at 2 in the hecking morning. image.png
@icedquinn@lain@Moon@ageha the universities are captured; these individuals are picked for a different reason. They're chosen to be nomenklatura because of their willingness to push ideology, and as icedquinn pointed out, kompromat is used to help them toe the line.
