@ghostrunner > what's called a programmer move Pretend you've been automating it for ten days, fail miserably and then do it manually in ten minutes? 🤣
@thatguyoverthere As for avoiding YouTube in general — I completely agree, even when there were no privacy-oriented platforms, there was Vimeo and I think more people should've used that. YouTube just happened at the right time, Google themselves failed to build a competing platform with GoogleVideo and had to go for acquisition until it was too late. Among other things, YouTube has the largest user base and offers free promotion just for being there, a lot of people like it 🤷 @charliebrownau
@thatguyoverthere You are probably right about hosting on alternative platforms, but look, do people, who know of alternative platforms really want those videos? I think they are interested in other content anyway. A mirror on more privacy-respecting platform — why not, but deleting all the content — I don't know… @charliebrownau
@thatguyoverthere They are promoting freedom, not enforcing it. For example, there is Proton, they provide privacy-oriented email and all that shit. Going all the way would mean hosting your own email-server — but not everyone is up to it, at least not from the get go. So I think they still do a good job even developing these Android and iOS apps, doing web stuff that works only in Bromide and Firefox.
Same here — posting on Gemini is nice, but it won't attract new people 🤷 @charliebrownau
@charliebrownau Half measures anyway. Burning down Googleplex (or whatever name of their lair nowadays is) with everyone inside and all their datacenters — now we're playing! 😈 @thatguyoverthere
@charliebrownau Don't worry, it was just a joke. My original point was that it's pointless, posting videos about importance of privacy on privacy-respecting platform, people who use it already know all this, to spread the world, you have to go to *their* world. @thatguyoverthere
@Zerglingman It's good! Speaking of Melbourne, Australia, here is another one I enjoy a lot: https://jackharlon-dawsonthedeadcrows.bandcamp.com/album/the-magnetic-ridge It's also stoner/psychedelic, unlike DT's more clear "sober" sound, this one, not unlike all stoner rock, is heavily processed, it's dreamy, but it's trippy-dreamy — I'm not sure that it's your cup of tea. But it's story, or at least atmosphere, driven and quite interesting — it has a few highlights, but all album as a whole just flows really well together, I like that.
@Zerglingman Yeah, same here. But I am listening to very little of such music in general nowadays. The closest to prog I listen to these days is probably Mars Volta and Tool, maybe some King Crimson — but that is far shot from DT. I like these guys a lot: https://elephanttreeband.bandcamp.com/album/habits They are different too — more like stoner I suppose, but I really enjoy both their albums: this one and the self-titled. They have that spirit of old-school rock music, but sound fresh at the same time.
@Zerglingman Thanks, will listen once Awake I have managed to find and put in the CD player finishes playing. I'd also like to listen to some Liquid Tension, but I've only had one album and I haven't seen that CD for well over a decade, I think someone "borrowed" it and there it went 😔 Maybe I'll partake in some piracy later today 👉👈 Thanks for the link again!
@thatguyoverthere There are a lot of factors why people at 30 nowadays behave like they are 50 already and this one can be one of the major contributors. @roboneko@thor@BlinkRape
@thor Doesn't it just mean that they are resistant to acids and other liquids often contained in food? I don't thing that touching your food (or skin) with non food grade plastics will poison it immediately, however if they remain in contact for extended periods of time or get exposed to high temperatures, some might get absorbed.
@jeff You're right though, the solution is not even being explored. The concept of having a clear enemy is so easy to grasp that everyone uses it to sway people — and people are just getting caught in the moment, bashing some other group that often has zero to do with their problems. Shit — even I get caught into that sometimes. Always asking yourself "Does this really make my life any better?" is hard and the answer is often unpleasant, so most just don't do that.
@jeff > all activism is state sponsored Correct, but this wasn't my point. Not everyone is being paid directly to do stupid shit — that's just not cost effective. Paying to those who can convince a lot of people to do stupid shit — now we're playing! A lot of people are deceived into believing total garbage: okay, what I do might look like stupid shit — but I'm doing it for a good cause, I'm a good person, right? No, you are not — just take a step back and look at that, it's still stupid shit🤷♀️
@jeff Spot on! It looks like a lot of people aren't trying to have your sympathy anymore, but do their best being as annoying as possible so you can agree with them only for them to fuck off 🤣
@jeff My exact words! Some refuse to believe because the declared goal of such "activists" is good, and it often really is — it's just what they do doesn't make them (or anyone) closer to that goal. > sabotage on behalf of the corpos More often on behalf of their own stupidity — corpos indeed benefit from what these people do, but most aren't even getting paid for that, they are just being played.
NoneJust in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
