Apparently Windows 7's mascot in Japan also had some "desktop buddy" feature that you'd open on your computer and basically have the character just.. sit there?
like, you can double click to play a voice and move her around but I don't know what I'm supposed to do here with it

@Pawlicker @hj @coolboymew I don't find offense in newcomers flocking to mastodon.social, mastodon.online or mstdn.social, maybe because that's what I first did in 2021, but yeah, some guidance to newcomers definitely should be useful, and someone somewhere to recommend them instances can also be useful. (but then, who will bother?)

Bluesky, well, you have first-hand experience why it sucks. Nostr, I forgot about its existence. Instagram Threads, the Star Wars opening crawl of a ToS/PP says enough.
