I've got some news about office environments. The absolute worst part for me was dealing with the rampant gossip and laziness. People would chat all day, accomplish next to nothing, and then pretend they were some kind of heroes for staying late. People walk around, take lunch or bathroom breaks, attend meetings, etc. Office or Home people will walk around. Stop writing stupid stories to promote back-to-office culture and risk everyone’s health.
Today, you can easily transition from x86 to ARM using VMs. The ARM CPUs are powerful little machines. I'm comparing this to the early 2000s when the transition could have been hard or wasn't worth the effort. Apple did it successfully. So Qualcomm can do it and slowly kill x86. Or they can let Intel operate as it is without killing x86 line.
Intel used to be the leader in x86, but today it is losing market share rapidly to the new generation of CPUs and GPUs, especially those using ARM architecture. The Wall Street Journal reports Qualcomm approached Intel about a possible takeover https://www.theverge.com/2024/9/20/24249949/intel-qualcomm-rumor-takeover-acquisition-arm-x86 Qualcomm market cap is $188.18 billion and Intel market cap is 93.19 billion USD. Today Intel stock surges on potential Qualcomm takeover news. I guess an end of ear is ahead.
On a related note, EU leaders are tightening their grip on AI. They are not allowing Apple, Google, Facebook, and others to do as they wish. So, Mark Zuke has released a new website called EU Needs AI. 😂 https://euneedsai.com
I know nobody will listen to me, and some followers might boost it. We are in the minority. At last, when we go to /dev/null, we will know we weren't responsible for massive job loss, taking away someone's income or health insurance, or making someone homeless. And how are humans supposed to adapt to this tech when they simply don't want humans? What is the backup plan for the rest of humanity, or 99% of the population?
I doubt that movie ticket prices will decrease. If anything, they will likely increase every few years. Who is benefiting from this situation? Building massive data centers is consuming a lot of electricity and contributing to climate change for AI. Furthermore, it seems that every possible job is being automated, and this won't lead to a better outcome in the end.
These wealthy companies and billionaires like Bill Gates, Sam Altman, and tech bros are going to destroy so much just to have more money. Go solve complex problems like cancer and leave writing music, art, books, comics, and stuff like that to humans.
They say AI will not take jobs but will help artists. Indian filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) abandons human musicians for AI-generated music https://techcrunch.com/2024/09/19/indian-filmmaker-ram-gopal-varma-abandons-human-musicians-for-ai-generated-music/ RGV is a big deal in indian cinema. This is start of disaster. Countries like India shouldn't be using AI at all. The unemployment rate is exceptionally high compared to Western nations. Despite the $3.95 trillion GDP size, 99% don't get anything out of this massive economy. The top 1% controls and benefits the most.
