I asked around so-called influencers why they were not on #Mastodon . Here are the most common replies:
1) We can't go viral on Mastodon (read as we can't game the system because humans only boost good stuff)
2) They want a algo driven system (why do you want to see angry posts all day & night?)
3) You can't make money on Mastodon (WTF that even mean?)
4) It is way too technical & confusing. Which server to join? WTF is the server?
Only the last one is valid. The rest are all lazy reasons.

It's a chicken-and-egg problem, if these people only stay on X, others will also stay on X. If people move away to another platform, people will follow suit. Its that simple.

If a very old, entirely non-tech person like me can figure out how to set up and open an account, (by looking online for instructions) then I say those people are lazy and not at all interested in making a change for the better.

@nixCraft I'd be really interested to know more details. How many influencers? What's their subject matter? Etc.
Their reasons seem 100% rational given *what influencers do.* They're (as I think of them) in the business of understanding the day to day machinations of the platforms' algorithms to a large extent. Which is a valid occupation. That skillset doesn't put food on the table, tho, in the fedi.
Is your position that influencers should be here?
