@Christmas_Man @graf You do slow spinny disks and a big distributed cluster for that. It's been a little more than a decade since I set up something like this, but an old team I was on used GlusterFS for archiving byproducts of the ETL pipelines (similar access pattern: it was data that had to stay accessible on demand, but wasn't needed on a daily basis).

Yeah, PeerTube is a little weird so support is a little spotty. Some of the code for that is written, but it's semi-unused. Last I heard, it's /api/v1/config , /api/v1/config/about , /api/v1/server/stats , but I didn't want to get into special-casing software.

@Lyx @kirby @FrailLeaf @Owl @Owl @cassidyclown @drewdevault @kent @pernia Yeah, I'm not actually sure what you mean, but in ActivityPub, the URL where you fetch the actor's metadata is their ID, so that has to be unique, that's how you identify people, etc. You usually have a more expedient local ID.

To fix the issue with DMs, I think you can just use the same inbox as the old user. I don't think you have to change anything besides the AP ID. Pleroma might bug a little about nickname, but you could hack it.

Better than if you post some long thing and then they read it and then there's an edit and they have to figure out what changed. That was a bigger problem with delete-and-redraft than the hacky implementation: I'd get three versions of a six-paragraph message, I read the first one, then I see the second one, and what changed? Was it important or did they fix their spelling or just decide that one word sounded better than the other? How do I know, should I reread it? Is it worth the effort or am I putting more energy into reading the message than they put into writing it?

That problem hasn't been fixed with edits, they just gave it a more complicated implementation.
