🎂 On Mai 21th 2004, Asterix (Yann Leboulanger) released Gajim 0.1.

💬 "Gajim" is a recursive acronym and stands for: Gajim (is) a Jabber Instant Messenger.

📈 Some stats: Gajim's code repository counts around 18,000 commits, and the issue tracker lists a history of over 11,800 opened issues in total. That's quite some history!

Support for Message Replies (XEP-0461) 📨 has just been merged into Gajim's core 🎉 Tested with @dino and @movim

Gajim's next release will certainly be a big one!

10 years ago I made the first commit¹ to Conversations.im

To 24 year old me working on one project for 10 years would have been unbelievable.

It's 2024 and the only way to have a linux desktop audibly ping you for notifications in an #xmpp client is to *checks notes* compile your own specially flagged debian flavour of one of the 4 or 5 potential clients?

nothing against gajim, works well but no audio even with a bunch of packages added, love dino it works solid as and stays out of the way but no audio notification

Any solutions to not have to flatpak effectively an extra environment or compile versions that'll munt things? #askFedi
