There were Uber and Lyft drivers worried that robotaxis would take away their livelihoods: “If you allow self-driving taxis to expand, it’s going to take jobs away from families. I’m a single mum,” said Rosine, an Uber driver in the city.

Representatives of garbage disposal trucks said the cars often broke down and blocked their vehicles. San Francisco’s fire service has criticised the cars for the same reason - claiming to have been obstructed 55 times this year.

Others believe the technology simply hasn’t proved itself to be safe yet. Matthew Sutter, a cab driver in San Francisco, said: “I’m all about technology, but it’s not ready guys… this is a danger to the citizens of San Francisco.”

There were others representing physically disabled people who wondered how they would be able to get into cabs without help from a driver. Mara Math, a member of the Paratransit Coordinating Council, said the embrace of robotaxis would “leave disabled San Franciscans out in the cold”.

What started out as a jokey suggestion for a midges horror movie now has a script, a director, a producer - and a plan to begin filming next year.

Himself said that years ago he and some friends had been climbing down Argyll way, and as you probably know, the Argyll midge has teeth and tackey boots and knuckle dusters as well, and came across some American tourists, men, trying to pitch a tent. Said to them don’t pitch it here, come evening it will be midge hell, and got oh, we’re used to mosquitos, it’s fine. Came back down the hill come evening and find them dancing about and swearing and generally going crazy, due to the midge assault.

Kathleen Stock said it was “crazy” to allow biological men access to women’s changing rooms, lavatories and prisons based on a “totally internal” feeling.

She urged policymakers to dismiss activists who believed that trans people should win the same rights as women based on “what someone says about their gender identity, as soon as they say it”.

Addressing 300 people at the Oxford Union last night, the feminist professor also called for funding for “third” gender-neutral spaces to ensure the safety of trans women and women.

“Furry” Indicted On Human Trafficking Charges, Allegedly Forced A Woman To Produce Pornography

A “furry” has been indicted on charges of forced labor trafficking in relation to allegations he enslaved a woman and forced her to make fetish pornography which from which he personally profited.

Austin Taylor Koeckeritz, 29, is being held on a $300,000 bond while awaiting trial on the federal charges. The US Department of Justice unsealed the indictment on January 19, revealing that Koeckeritz had trafficked an adult woman for nearly two years.

According to court documents, the victim was only allowed “time off” if she recruited other young women to work for Koeckeritz from the local college.
