@nyanide@lab.nyanide.com The "SHA 2 Update" is an actual official update that needs to be downloaded before being able to access the service... for Windows 7. I don't think Vista has it, afaik the last TLS it supports is 1.1, so MAYBE that's what that patch script is doing?
@nyanide@lab.nyanide.com That's a very valid question, actually. I see a few other posts/forums mentioning it online, but I don't actually know. I recall the script also offering to modify WU to fetch Server 2008 patches as well.
What the fuck since when did Microsoft shut off the Windows Update servers for Vista? I remember it was more than possible to get fully up to date after installing a few updates manually...
@nyanide@lab.nyanide.com Just tested, works just fine. Might be some features I haven't noticed missing, but Wikiless already lacks a few superficial features (e.g. hovering over a blue link for a preview).
@dushman I remember having set up something like that in my house. Everyone complained that they couldn't use their apps. At least now I can just add a DNS-over-HTTPS setting on my devices to Mullvad's ad blocking, privacy DNS, that works shockingly well, even blocking Meta stuff on a Meta Quest.
@dushman it disables lots of annoyances and enables lots of privacy features, all by itself, which is great and why I keep using it. The thing that pisses me off the most, is it prioritizes paranoid privacy over convenience/usability; it disables search suggestions, browser history, storing cookies after a restart, among other things. Surprisingly never really had an issue with RFP beyond "ah fuck I have to install Dark Reader because nothing is in dark mode and this shitty app doesn't have a manual toggle" or "no, it is not currently midnight (it fucks up timezones on purpose)"
@Calvin@minidisc.tokyo it's hard to describe, it makes the scrolling less linear/harsh and more weighted, slow. I attached a video showing the difference (left is modified, right is stock). (repost to encode in MP4 instead of MKV)
