Honestly after reading this, the biggest conclusion I get is to just use the cloud.
Codeberg's goal is to offer a truly FOSS code hosting service, not to be anti cloud.

If its either a better service, or one that uses independent cloud, the choice would be obvious.
And you don't have to use Big tech, European hosting companies like Hetzner, OVH, scaleway and others exist! and are pretty affordable.
