     @fariszr Not anti-cloud maybe, but anti-monopoly. And it's difficult to find cloud hosting without.

     Also, a while back, money was among our worst fears, so we calculated that self-hosting is more economic for large storage scale than using the cloud (we had netcup and Hetzner where we have been before). We expected volunteer contributions to grow accordingly.

     Last but not least, OVH might be low-cost, but is of rather low quality in certain domains.

     Honestly after reading this, the biggest conclusion I get is to just use the cloud.
     Codeberg's goal is to offer a truly FOSS code hosting service, not to be anti cloud.
     
     If its either a better service, or one that uses independent cloud, the choice would be obvious.
     And you don't have to use Big tech, European hosting companies like Hetzner, OVH, scaleway and others exist! and are pretty affordable.
