Loling at a profile that claims it's interested in privacy while harassing instances for blocking threads.

My contribution ensures our devs don't have to take time away from doing that.

Not all devs are suited to that either.

Project sustainability needs to be more than chuck money at devs. Yes, we would not be here without that code.

But the so called "soft skills" are just as valuable.

When I'm talking about project sustainability, I'm talking about more than developers by the way.

I don't code in C which at the moment is what @librecast is written in. But I still contribute time, with grant applications, reporting, managing the project account, community etc.

This isn't directly funded. It's a similar story for folks in other projects who give that support, their time for gratis. What happens when their cash runs out, the project loses.

Also not here for her trying to insinuate that we are all unhinged, shadily funded sexists.

This law won't protect the children. What it will do is break encryption to directly surveill EU citizens.

It will mean your private messages will be available to the "bad guys".

@aral I see billionaires as a bit like King's. They probably see themselves as kings as well in their heart of heart's.

Possibly even in a "divine right of Kings" way.

So you end up with people in their courts, massaging their egos, enabling those egos so they can get some of that power as well. Those people are toadys.

Billionaires shouldn't exist.

They hoard wealth, they are Smaug. They are dragons. They don't deserve your support.

They are literally burning our planet.

@dentangle @EC_DIGIT , @EC_OSPO I'm quite disappointed by the setback.

But then the NGI communications workshop was also not advertised on the Fediverse where alot of NGI funded projects through @NGIZero have a presence.

I have attended 2 of these seminars and despite it being advertised as for innovators and funds, its mostly been the marketing folks. Small innovators do not have a marketing department and value our privacy.

@alcinnz @dentangle @EC_DIGIT I also think we need a conversation about agencies contracted by the EU for its public facing communications being mandated to use publicly funded code and to pay support to maintain that code.

Otherwise publicly funded projects funded by the EU will not be sustainable.

I don't approve of public money and EU residents metadata going to corporate companies that harm our privacy.

@alcinnz @dentangle I think there does need to be a bigger conversation about the marketing/innovation firms not having a presence on here yet. There's a communication (and ideological) divide in the NGI space. Firms like Martel Innovate (do the NGI blog) do not have an account here.

But hopefully this is what @EC_DIGIT are aiming to improve with training folks who aren't here yet?

@Hamishcampbell @alcinnz @dentangle I was there at the time they had issues, they didn't send out the meeting link and apparently there was an issue with the server.

The person giving the seminar also likes having a webinr with cameras on etc. Not great if you aren't on a good broadband connection.
