    The Florida legislation is symbolic bullshit signed into law by the neo-con bush-era loving DeSantus. I think it amounts to an "I am over x age" checkbox on sites.

    The real dangerous of these legislation is implementing government digital ID. That could effectively shut down smaller forums and fedi instances depending on how it's implemented in law.

    When adults talk about how bad social media is for kids, my response is always, "Kids? It's bad for adults!!" I deleted my FB/Twitter/Insta three years ago ... and I'm still addicted to fedi and I know that's not good either 😅

    I am really against government enforcement here. Parents need to do the enforcing, and why not lead by example too? Delete your social network. Yea it's difficult, and you gotta be the communication pin in text message groups for school events and sports teams if you're an involved parent. But other parents may follow your lead and do the same!

    And to say "well kids will just use social media and/or see porn anyway. " .. it still makes a difference if they see you don't like it! They may do it anyway, but they will always think "Mom and dad find this wrong. meh..." and they will do it knowing the adults they trust have moral issues. That does make a meaningful impact mentally in the long run.

    Even when I was a kid I would have to take a walkman. I remember people looking at me funny when I knocked over the stack of five tapes I had under the seat.

    Back when I was flying a lot, I'd liked to the IBM 1401 Symphony and would always fall asleep while on the taxiway. I'd wake up briefly for takeoff and to see the city for a bit before falling back asleep for at least an hour. I got it down to an art.

    Nickelodeon was so weird in the the "by kids for kids" message even though it was obviously adult run. So for the parent, they had to view it through the lens of "adults who have the good child like curiosity" if they even thought about it at all. Most just accepted it was a fun marketing gimmick.

    I've been a "senior engineer" in some form or another for about two decades. I've lived in three countries and I get paid a lot for being half-way decent, and the only debt I have is ~12 more years on my house.

    I typically do above the bare minimum; enough that I'm impressed by the low standards at whatever company I'm at while not becoming some kind of lynch pin in any meaningful way (I accidentally became important in DevOps, so I'm never doing that again).

    Our school valedictorian has also lived in (at least) three countries, but he's never really built out his career, still doesn't own a house and is totally sucked in by a purple-haired super-left girl who cancelled their wedding a month out with no explanation and they're still together.

    I am the most-mid person. It's all about tempering expectations really.

    Spider-man Miles Morales was so dumb I can't imagine how bad Spider-man 2 is.

    Miles Morales is literally given some missions by a purple haired podcaster, speaks perfect English, Spanish and sign language, and has nearly no faults. The game also has a Tim Pool references, where Jamison tells his staff to fire the fact checker with a beanie.
