You find out that if you're not super talented, don't have the right mindset, or you don't have a crazy amount of time to devote to practicing, you plateau, then you realize it's more fulfilling to play with friends and not be crazy good at the game.

Playing fighters online is a waste of time and completely unfun.

Esports taking off and fighting games having a ready-made pro scene in the FGC killed any reason for devs to include any solo content.

@coolboymew @Weeble Eva was the drug-fueled ramblings of someone hitting rock bottom in their life, but a lot of good art comes from that exact situation. I don't know, I get the feeling if I gave it another watch, it'd be like me reading Catcher in the Rye at two points in my life.

@coolboymew @Weeble Yeah, that all makes sense. Lain was very much a product of its time and really pretentious, but there wasn't anything else like it back then, and a lot of imitators afterwards. I kind of have a soft spot for early 2000s 2deep stuff, though.
