I don’t have a lot of money in PMs, but I do like to keep some on hand just in case. That and I like shiny things.
As far as barter in a shtf situation goes, you will probably do most of it in terms of the actual goods you produce. Also, carrying around a bunch of silver/gold coins is a good way to get robbed or worse. You’d be better off carrying extra ammo. The coins will come in handy when things start to return to some form of normal, assuming the new warlord in charge isn’t some thieving asshole himself.
