Maybe if you’ve gone through a harsh experience and come out the other end fully tempered then you know you’ll love it forever, but so many are just a flash in the pan that you end up looking at 50 years later with an eyeroll.
even the dead kid ones, ugh. I got family with those “my baby died so here’s a portrait in your face all the time” ones and it’s insufferable. I get the vibe he likes wallowing in it, like he WANTS people to grab his shoulder and commiserate so he can get attention. Weird guy.
I would need my tat to be utterly, 100% internally-composed. How can you come up with something that doesn’t reference some ideology, some power that’s outside of your control? How can you make something that’s fullly novel and unseen outside your design? That’s the only way you don’t end up with something messed up by other people later on - you never know when some fad takes hold and you’re stuck saying “yeah but I got this before everyone started getting into it, they really ruined it for me”
