You come away getting a feel for how far you push things, how much of your time to commit and whatnot. All that calculus changes when you’re hitched, then she/family owns your time by default, and halo w/ the boys is an even bigger waste of time.
I have a couple young bucks in the family trying to find a girl and they ALWAYS botch that phase by spending every second they have w/ their new girl. They hang out 9 hours a day the second she accepts a 2nd/3rd date and then they become these cringe teenagers in their 20’s. Hard to watch.
If you do the “meh gf” phase then you learn to mete out your time w/ a new girl, you seem cooler and levelheaded to her parents, more mature and even-keeled to her. Better for everything.
